The Usefulness of Edu Backlinks.
Most people do not really know precisely how search engines rank websites. Here is a short background on how it works. First the search engines send out small programs that copy your site and these are called spiders. Once they get through the first part, the next thing they do is analyze the site that. They also look at the number of links that connect to your site
These links are called back links and the more sites that link to your site the better your rankings will be. The type of sites that link back is also a factor that weighs in to your final ranking.
The more credible a site, the more people look to link to it. For example, Yahoo is a very reliable site when it comes to its credibility because of the amazing web traffic that it produces. If you have a back-link that comes from Yahoo, you have a better chance of getting high rankings.
Another thing that factors into the algorithms of search engines is the kind of site that it links to. Some sites hold more credibility than others because not everyone can use them. A prime example of that would be a.gov or.edu domain.
These sites hold a higher amount of credibility because of the higher accreditation requirements of these two types of domain. Since you will most likely have little chance of getting your hands on a.gov domain, I might as well start off with a.edu site.
Sites which have a.edu domain usually has a higher domain value because in order to qualify for a edu domain site they have to receive accreditation from the US Department of Education. Because of this very same exclusivity, search engines see that a link from this site has more value to it.
The additional value that EDU Domains hold has not officially been confirmed by Google but it can be seen in all the search results. When you type searches into the search engine, the results usually show a great number of.edu domain web sites.
If you are now thinking of adding your sites into edu domain sites to create back-links, unfortunately it just is not that easy. These educational institutions do not just stand there as you abuse their vaunted credibility.
Educational institutions keep track of the links fund and their sites and tag them to identify what kind of links they are. One kind of link is the “DoFollow” link and the other is the “NoFollow”. The DoFollow links are allowed in the site and counts toward your ranking while NoFollow Links do not affect your rankings nearly as much.
The trick to a successful SEO campaign is to determine which ones to follow. Finding backlinks from edu sites that can be considered DoFollow links are hard to come by. They also tend to be very expensive, as well.
But, if you do find that DoFollow link that works, jump at the chance. You will surely see the difference in your rankings and with it an increase in your online business. This is then the first step to your lasting success.
